Overview
MIA Games is a free online gaming platform offering 12 classic browser games: Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect Four, Pong, 2048, Word Search, Snake, Memory Match, Hangman, Minesweeper, Simon, Reaction Time Test, and Sudoku. Our website is operated by MIA Tech Services and is located at mia-games.com.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy applies to all visitors of mia-games.com and describes the types of information we may collect, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Short version: MIA Games does not require you to create an account. We do not sell your personal data to anyone. Game scores and preferences are saved directly on your own device and never transmitted to our servers.
Information We Collect
MIA Games collects minimal information. We separate what we actively collect from what is passively collected through the services we use.
Information you provide directly
We do not ask you to register, log in, or submit any personal information (such as your name, email address, or phone number) to use MIA Games. No forms on this site collect personal data except our contact method described in Section 13.
Information collected automatically
When you visit mia-games.com, certain technical data may be collected automatically by our hosting provider and third-party services, including:
- Your Internet Protocol (IP) address
- Browser type and version
- Device type (desktop, tablet, or mobile)
- Operating system
- The pages you visit on our site and time spent on each
- Referring website (the site that sent you to ours)
- Date and time of your visit
This information is used in aggregate form only, meaning we look at overall traffic patterns rather than individual user behaviour. We cannot use this data alone to identify you personally.
Local Storage & Game Data
MIA Games uses your browser's built-in localStorage feature to save game-related information on your own device. This is entirely different from server-side storage — the data never leaves your computer, tablet, or phone.
The following data may be stored in your browser's localStorage:
- Your preferred theme (dark or light mode)
- High scores and best times across all 12 games
- Win/loss statistics and streaks
- Last selected difficulty and game preferences
- Sound preference (on/off)
Your game data stays on your device. MIA Games has no database of player scores and cannot access the data stored in your browser. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for mia-games.com, or by clearing all browser data in your browser settings.
localStorage keys used by MIA Games are prefixed with mia-
(for example, mia-games-theme, mia-snake-high).
These keys are not cookies and do not expire automatically, but they are removed
when you clear your browser site data.
Cookies
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device when you visit. Cookies can be used to remember preferences, track sessions, or serve targeted advertising.
MIA Games itself does not set any first-party cookies. We use localStorage instead (see Section 3), which operates differently from cookies and is not transmitted with HTTP requests.
However, third-party services embedded on our pages — specifically Google AdSense — do set and read their own cookies on your device. These are described in detail in the next section.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of Google ads displayed on this site but will not affect your ability to play any of our games.
Google AdSense & Advertisements
MIA Games uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google AdSense is an advertising service provided by Google LLC. Displaying ads allows us to offer all games on this site free of charge.
Google AdSense may use cookies and web beacons to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to provide advertisements about goods and services that may be of interest to you. This is commonly known as interest-based or personalised advertising.
Important: MIA Games does not control what data Google collects through AdSense, nor how Google uses or shares that data. Google operates its advertising services under its own Privacy Policy. We strongly recommend reading the Google Privacy Policy to understand how Google handles your information.
You can opt out of personalised Google advertising at any time by visiting Google Ad Settings. You can also opt out of interest-based advertising from many other ad networks through the Your Online Choices tool (EU) or the Network Advertising Initiative (US).
All advertisements on MIA Games are clearly labelled as "Advertisement" and are positioned separately from game content. They are never overlaid on, inside, or adjacent to any interactive game element.
Third-Party Links
MIA Games contains links to external websites, including our developer's website and links within ad content served by Google. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of these third-party websites.
When you click a link that takes you to an external site, you leave mia-games.com and that site's own privacy policy applies. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any external website you visit.
Children's Privacy
MIA Games is designed to be suitable for general audiences and our games are appropriate for all ages. However, our site is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because MIA Games requires no registration, login, or form submission of any kind, there is no mechanism through which a child could submit personal information to us directly.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information to us in any way, please contact us immediately using the details in Section 13 and we will take steps to remove such information.
Data Security
Because MIA Games does not collect or store personal information on our own servers, the risk to your personal data from a breach of our systems is extremely limited. We do not operate a user database, account system, or payment processor.
Our website is served over HTTPS, which means data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit. This protects against interception of your browsing session.
Game data stored in your browser's localStorage is only accessible to the mia-games.com origin and cannot be read by other websites. However, any person with physical access to your device and browser could read localStorage values. We store only non-sensitive game statistics (scores and preferences), so the risk of harm from unauthorised access to this data is negligible.
Your Rights
Even though MIA Games collects minimal personal data, you have the following rights regarding information associated with your use of our site:
- Right to Access: You may request information about what personal data (if any) we hold about you.
- Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete any personal data we hold. Since we hold no personal data on our servers, this mainly applies to data held by third-party services like Google. You can clear your own localStorage data at any time through your browser settings.
- Right to Opt Out of Advertising: You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ad Settings or browser cookie controls as described in Sections 4 and 5.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: Where your consent is the basis for data processing by any service on our site, you may withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond to all requests within 30 days.
GDPR — European Union Users
If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, or United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or UK GDPR applies to the processing of your personal data.
Where MIA Games (or third-party services on our site) processes personal data, the legal basis for processing is one of the following:
- Legitimate interests: Serving and improving a free public website
- Consent: For personalised advertising through Google AdSense, where applicable
- Legal obligation: Where required by applicable law
EU/UK users have enhanced rights under GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.
CCPA — California Users
If you are a resident of California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) may provide you with additional rights regarding your personal information.
Under CCPA, California residents have the right to:
- Know what personal information is collected about them
- Know whether their personal information is sold or disclosed and to whom
- Opt out of the sale of their personal information
- Access their personal information
- Request deletion of their personal information
- Not be discriminated against for exercising their CCPA rights
MIA Games does not sell personal information. The display of ads through Google AdSense may constitute "sharing" of data under CCPA's broad definition; if you wish to opt out, please use Google's opt-out tools described in Section 5.
To make a CCPA request, contact us using the details in Section 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or applicable legal requirements. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically. If changes are significant, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users by posting a notice on our homepage.
